About Us

Our history
Wyvern Community Transport was established by the Rayleigh, Rochford and District Association for Voluntary Service in 2003 and became a Company limited by Guarantee on 14th September 2005. The Company was registered as a Charity (no. 1113449) on 28th March 2006. The Company has a Service Level Agreement with Essex County Council.

Our employees and volunteers
The Company has 7 Trustees and employs 8 staff, together with 7 volunteer minibus drivers; 1 social car drivers and 1 volunteer passenger assistants. Staff members include a Transport Manager, an Assistant Manager, 2 Booking Clerks, 3 Drivers and a Passenger Assistant. The Company actively welcomes volunteers to assist in any capacity. Operating Permits.
We operate under Sections 19 and 22  for road passenger transport under the Transport Act 1985.  We operate our ‘Dial A Ride’ service under Section 19, and our ‘Canvey Shopper’ under Section 22.

Canvey Shopper DAR73.
This is a door to door service for all residents of Canvey Island, providing transport within Canvey Island & up to & including Benfleet Station. Concessionary bus passes accepted or you can travel for a flat fare of £7.00 single or return, and under 16s travel half price.  For this service you need to be a member and pre-book. Anyone on Canvey Island may join and annual membership is free.

Funding 

With the support from local funders like Rayleigh and Rochford Town Councils we are able to provide our much-needed service to our members. We also have additional support from many other organisations such as;

Maureen’s Gift, ROSCA, EALC, Fowler Smith and Jones, Essex Community Foundation, Yellow car (our is support is not limited to these organisations).
